Darcy Lawton, LCSW – Darcy is an empathic and attuned therapist.  She tailors her practice to best serve the goals and pursuits of her clients.  She draws from a wealth of experience as a result of practicing for many years in New York City. Darcy has worked with individuals and families in a variety of settings across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, including: a group private practice, outpatient mental health clinic, hospital, school, and community-based organizations.  In a previously held position at an outpatient mental health clinic, she held the role of Clinical Supervisor, and provided guidance and support to her clients and team of colleagues.

Darcy is a former ballet dancer, and danced with the Eglevsky Ballet on Long Island, NY.  She also appeared onstage in freelance engagements with artists from the American Ballet Theatre.  Darcy maintains an appreciation for the arts, and continues dancing as an enjoyable enhancement to her life.  She also served as an independent consultant to the American Ballet Theatre JKO School in NYC, providing support and guidance to advanced and pre-professional ballet students.

In private practice, Darcy employs her ability to connect with her clients with sensitivity.  She finds that establishing rapport at a core human level sets the foundation for exploration, growth, and change to emerge.  Darcy enjoys working with motivated clients who want to develop insight and awareness, and practice healthy coping skills.  She incorporates elements from her education and practice to help guide you in a positive direction.

Darcy is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, and is registered as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the New York State Education Department’s Office of the Professions.  She received her Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University’s College at Lincoln Center, with a dual focus in Sociology and Psychology. Darcy has a Master’s degree in Social Work from New York University.
