About Darcy

Darcy Lawton LCSW Therapist Talk to DarcyDarcy Lawton, LCSW – Darcy is a caring, supportive, and understanding therapist.  She tailors her practice to best serve the goals and pursuits of each individual client.  She draws from a wealth of knowledge and experience, having worked closely with individuals and families in a variety of settings, such as a group private practice, outpatient mental health clinic, addiction treatment center, hospital, school, and community-based organizations.  In a previously held position at a long standing outpatient mental health clinic, she held the role of Clinical Supervisor, and guided and provided support to her clients and team of colleagues.

Darcy is a former ballet dancer, and danced with the Eglevsky Ballet on Long Island, NY.  She has also appeared onstage in freelance engagements with artists from the American Ballet Theatre.  Darcy maintains an avid appreciation for the arts, and continues dancing as an enjoyable enhancement to her life.  She most recently served as an independent consultant to the American Ballet Theatre JKO School, providing support and guidance to advanced and pre-professional ballet students.

Darcy employs her ability to connect and relate to others in her practice with keen and caring sensitivity.  She finds that establishing rapport with her clients at a core human level sets the foundation for exploration, growth, and change to emerge.  Darcy also enjoys working with motivated clients who want to develop insight and awareness, and is adept at helping her clients identify and practice healthier coping skills.  She incorporates elements from her training, education, and practice to help guide you in a healthy, positive direction.

Darcy is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, and is registered as a licensed professional with the New York State Education Department’s Office of the Professions.  She received her Bachelor’s degree from Fordham University’s College at Lincoln Center, with a dual focus in Sociology and Psychology. Darcy has a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from New York University.
